Every year, agencies whose purpose is to protect abused and neglected children, unnecessarily allow families to be ripped apart despite the fact there is no abuse or neglect. Sometimes,financially-strapped parents who have a child in need of medical care are advised to give up custody; child welfare services promising to cover medical fees and to return the child home once treatment is provided. Many parents have to then fight for months or years to get their child back, while in the process, the child may endure numerous relocations, denied their civil rights, forced to live apart from family, friends, and everything warm and familiar.
The Child welfare system must be reformed, and the first place to start is by community awareness and knowledge; know your rights!
